National Information Committee holds meeting

Manama, Aug.8 (BNA): Bahrain’s participation in the high-level political forum, which is affiliated with the UN Economic and Social Council, today York came under the spotlight. Chaired by Cabinet Affairs Minister Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Mutawa, the National Information Committee held a meeting at the court of His Royal Highness the Premier and outlines results of its participation in the three-day event, which opened at the UN headquarters in New York on July 16-18. Bahrain presented its First National Voluntary Report for the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 2030). Other events were also held on the sidelines of the high-level political forum. Al-Mutawa conveyed thanks and appreciation from HRH the Premier to the team in charge of the report for the efforts they had exerted under the supervision of the National Information Committee. He reiterated the Government’s keenness on supporting global efforts to promote the sustainable development goals 2030, stressing Bahrain’s landmark strides in this regard. H briefed members of the National Information Committee on results of high-level meetings which were held with UN officials on the sidelines of the high-level political forum. He pointed out the events and functions, which were held on the sidelines of the forum, by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) and the Ministry of Housing. The Ministry of Youth and Sports outlined projects in line with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, citing, in particular, the Bahrain Scientific Centre for Sustainable Goals, which was inaugurated by His Majesty’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa. Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for International Affairs Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa gave a briefing about the coordination and follow-up committee between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the UN agencies. He outlined the prerogatives of the committee, which was established following directives from HRH the Premier. Information and Electronic Government Authority (iGA) Acting Deputy Chief Executive for Statistics and Population Registration Dr. Nabeel Mohammed bin Shams highlight the mechanism for following up the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
