National park in Trang closes for four months

TRANG, May 29 (TNA) - Hat Chao Mai National Park in the southern coastal province of Trang will be closed for four months, starting June 1, after park authorities found coral bleaching at five islands. The closure of Hat Chao Mai National Park is aimed at restoring degraded coral reefs and to move corals which are still alive to nurseries. Park authorities said coral bleaching were found in about 80 per cent of the national park’s total areas. Even giant clams in the area have become white. Authorities of the national park said the closure of the park would not impact tourism business over the rainy season, as it is the low season. (TNA)
