Nationality verification for Lao workers starts on Monday

BANGKOK, Aug. 27 (TNA) – The process of verifying nationality of Lao migrant workers holding temporary work permits, or known as pink cards in Thailand, is about to begin on Monday, the Employment Department’s chief said. Department’s director-general, Waranon Pitiwan said the Lao authorities will initially provide the nationality verification service for the migrant workers, only at Laksi IT Square, a shopping mall in the capital city of Bangkok. The migrants with pink cards can have their nationality verified to get a certificate of identity and a work permit card from their origin country at the service center everyday between Aug. 28 and March 25, 2018, except for Sundays and other public holidays, he said. Waranon added that those who failed to do so must return to their home country before coming back under a memorandum of understanding to legally work in the kingdom. (TNA)
