NCPO changes solutions for Thai far South

BANGKOK, June 19 (TNA) - Thai Army and National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha has ordered the restructuring of administrative and development operations for the violence-plagued Thai far South. Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Spokesman Colonel Banpot Pulpian told journalists on Thursday that General Prayuth has approved the restructuring of administrative organizations to improve solutions for the Thai deep South, with the restructuring happening both at the policy-making and operational levels. Under the new structure, solutions for the Thai far South will be conducted at three levels. At the policy-making level, General Prayuth takes full responsibility for all policies and solutions, while the National Security Council (NSC) is his adviser, and both will work out policies for the administration and development of the southernmost Thai region, set to be implemented from 2015-2017. At the level of policy implementation, a committee, headed by a deputy army chief, will be formed to conduct it with integrated solutions of local government agencies. At the operational level, the ISOC's southern office will push for security and development solutions at the local level. Meanwhile, the NCPO extended the imposition of the executive decree on public administration in emergency situations in the southernmost Thai provinces of Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani, except Pattani's Mae Lan District, for another three months, from June 20-September 19, 2014.
