NCPO chief to meet int'l envoys

BANGKOK, June 9 (TNA) - Chief of Thailand's army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) will meet international ambassadors and consuls-general in Bangkok on June 11. Thai Foreign Ministry Spokesman Sek Wannamethee, who is also Director-General of the ministry's Department of Information, told journalists on Monday that 23 ambassadors and consuls-general of foreign countries in Thailand will be invited to the meeting on June 11, including the top diplomats from the United States, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Japan. Sek explained after the NCPO took control of the national administrative power on May 22, some countries have taken negative actions in response to the coup and some countries have relieved their reactions and General Prayuth, therefore, hopes to gather information from the diplomats and adjust Thailand's gestures and the NCPO's strategies. Meanwhile, NCPO Deputy Spokesman Colonel Weerachon Sukhonthapatiphak acknowledged he proposed that General Prayuth also hold a dinner talk with foreign correspondents to create proper understanding.
