NCPO releases more red-shirt, Pheu Thai Party leaders

BANGKOK, May 29 (TNA) - The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has released more leaders of the red-shirt United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) and the Pheu Thai Party. Those who were released at the Thai Army Auditorium in Bangkok's Thewes area on Wednesday evening include Jatuporn Prompan, Nattawut Saikuar, Dr. Weng Tojirakarn, Tida Thawornset, Veerakarn Musikapong and former justice minister Chaikasem Nitisiri. Some of the released persons said the coup council does not ban their financial transactions, but prohibites them from leaving the country, rallying or attending a political gathering. More key figures of the Pheu Thai Party will be reportedly released soon, including former deputy prime minister and foreign minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul. But some former Pheu Thai MPs have not yet been released, including Khattiya Sawasdipol and Jirayu Huangsap. Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary for Interior Wibul Sa-nguanpong has transferred 10 provincial governors, as instructed by the NCPO, citing efficiency. (TNA)
