NCPO:Draft interim constitution completed

BANGKOK, June 28 (TNA) - Just a month after a coup staged by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) on May 22, Thai Army and NCPO Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha says that the draft interim constitution has been completed and it is being scrutinised by legal experts. Speaking during his weekly address broadcast nationwide on Friday night, General Prayuth announced that the draft interim constitution will be considered by the junta next week before it is forwarded for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's endorsement. General Prayuth assessed that the draft charter should be enforced next month and the national legislative assembly is to be established about a month later, while an interim Cabinet should start performing duty in September 2014. General Prayuth acknowledged that it will take some times to find out knowledgeable persons from every sector and province to join the national reform council, but he believed the council could start performing duty around early October, 2014 or about two months after Thailand's interim charter is enforced. According to the NCPO chief, the national reform council is duty bound to undertake reform in all fields, including political, economic and social spheres, as well as environment, energy, judicial system and others, and members of the council will then furnish the draft of a Thai permanent charter, expected to be enforced in July 2015. After the permanent charter is enforced, the NCPO chief revealed, the junta will have to organise Thailand's new free and fair general election, which should become a “solid foundation for the perfect democracy and constructive political system for the country” with no more political strife. The NCPO chief foresaw that everything should be settled within 2015, when Thai people will have an elected, perfect government.(TNA)
