NCPW Organizes Training Course on Technical Aspects of Transportation Systems

Doha , February 01 (QNA) - A subregional training course for customs authorities of member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council on technical aspects of transportation systems, which is organized by National Committee for the Prohibition of Weapons (NCPW) at Doha Regional Centre for training on agreements relating to weapons of mass destruction began activities here today . The opening ceremony was attended by NCPW Chairman Major-General Nasser Mohammed al Ali in the presence of Pankaj Sharma, senior officer of International Cooperation and Assistance Division at the OPCW's Implementation Support Branch. In his opening speech, NCPW's Brigadier (Air) Hassan Saleh Al-Nesf welcomed Sharma and representatives of the Customs Authorities in GCC countries. Lt. AbdulAziz Al-Ahmad, NCPW's Secretary chaired the first session during which he reviewed NCPW's activities and the annual awareness's programs for college students and secondary school. Then Sharma expressed his thanks to the State of Qatar for hosting this session, then he gave a lecture on the history of the use of chemical weapons, saying that these weapons have been used for the first time in China by using Arsenic fumes as early as 1000 BC and then in 424 BC using sulfur toxic fumes.(QNA)
