Nearly 30 illegal Myanmar workers nabbed in Thai West

BANGKOK, June 23 (TNA) - Combined government forces have arrested 26 Myanmar people for illegally entering Thailand through the western Kanchanaburi Province. Local immigration police and army officers intercepted a truck running from the Thai-Myanmar border in Kanchanaburi at a village in the provincial seat on June 22 and found the 26 Myanmar nationals, 20 of whom are men and the rest are women. During the Wednesday night's operation, the combined government forces then apprehended the illegal Myanmar migrants and a Thai driver for interrogation. The driver reportedly told the security officers that he was hired to drop the Myanmar people in Kanchanaburi’s Muang District and they would be picked up and sent to factories in the central region. The security officers also found a quantity of methamphetamine pills in the possession of the arrested driver. (TNA)
