Network of protected areas to be expanded

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A project will be implemented to widen the network of specially protected areas. A cooperation memorandum on this project called "Network of Protected Areas with Natural Resources Management of Mongolia" was inked Wednesday by S.Oyun, the Minister of Environment and Green Development, and by Ms Sezin Sinanoglu, the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative. In frames of the five-year project, a new classification of the protected areas will be created, a stability of the specially protected areas and their structural capability will be ensured as well. The Minister said she is satisfied with the project and emphasized that it will increase a participation of local people in a protection of the protected areas, which, in its turn, will help save the biological diversity.
