New banknotes to be circulated tomorrow

BANGKOK, July 27 - The Bank of Thailand (BOT) confirms that new banknotes with 500 and 1,000-baht denominations will be circulated tomorrow, completing the introduction of new banknotes with all denominations. Woraporn Tangsaghasaksri, BOT’s assistant governor for banknote management, said new banknotes with 500 and 1,000-baht denominations would be introduced on July 28, the birthday of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun. They are parts of the first series of banknotes introduced under the reign of the king. People could acquire new banknotes through normal channels including ATMs and branches of commercial banks and financial institutions that opened in shopping malls on holidays, he said. The front of the new banknotes at all denominations shows the drawing of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun wearing a full dress uniform of the Royal Thai Air Force. (TNA)
