New Indonesian Destinations Promoted In Western Australia

JAKARTA, March 21 (Antara) - The Indonesian Consulate General in Perth cooperated with the Ministry of Tourism in introducing and promoting new holiday destinations in Indonesia to the people of Western Australia. According to the press release received by Antara here on Wednesday, the Indonesian government, through the Consulate General in Perth, participated in the Perth Holiday and Cruise Expo 2018 at Crown Hotel, Perth and Crab Festival in Mandurrah, in a bid to introduce and promote Wakatobi, Lake Toba, Lombok and Raja Ampat. During both of these activities, the Indonesian booths were thronged by visitors who were showed great enthusiasm to find out all about tour packages to Indonesia. At the exhibition in Perth, Indonesia's booth entitled "Indonesia: Bali and Beyond" was awarded runner-up for the best booth category. The Consulate General in Perth and the Ministry of Tourism also cooperated with Garuda Indonesia, Batik Air, Helloworld, Real Indonesia Travel, Wakatobi Local Government and the Batak Community in Perth. They recorded more than 300 requests for information from visitors, both on promoted tourist attractions, attractive packages offered and special prices on airline tickets. The people of Perth, who have already been very familiar with Bali, looked enthusiastic and curious about Indonesia's new tourist attractions, including Wakatobi which offers diving experiences, and Lake Toba, which is the largest volcanic crater lake in the world. "This kind of activity is the right place to start introducing other Indonesian tourist attractions to tourists from Perth," said Lily Davis, one of the travel operators who were standing by in the Indonesia booth. "They pick up leaflets and ask about new places, they will then make a trip themselves, and they are the ones who will tell others based on their experience," she said. In both functions, the Ministry of Tourism made presentations about marine tourism to visitors, as well as provided them with door prize tickets for round-trip Perth-Denpasar from Garuda Indonesia and Batik Air. "The activities that we attend are particularly relevant to our efforts to strengthen Indonesia's image in Western Australia, and are expected to contribute to increased number of tourists to Indonesia," said I Gede Pitana, deputy of International Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism.
