New IRIB chief appointed

Tehran, Nov 8, IRNA – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in a decree on Saturday, appointed Mohammad Sarafraz as the new President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). Sarafraz replaced Ezzatollah Zarghami who served as the IRIB chief since 2004. The IRIB new president, a fluent speaker of English and Arabic, will serve in the post for a five-year term. Sarafraz was previously the head of the IRIB’s World Service for two decades during which several foreign-language satellite channels, including Press TV, Al-Alam and Hispan TV were launched./end
