New Thai government reports policies to NLA

BANGKOK, September 12 (TNA) - The new Thai government of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha has delivered policies to the National Legislative Assembly (NLA), covering 11 areas. General Prayuth, who is also Chief of the army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), reported to the one-day NLA session on Friday that his government’s policies emphasize on further developing Thailand based on His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s guidances on understanding, access to and development of people and the Sufficiency Economy, as well as the present 11th five-year National Economic and Social Development Plan from 2012-2016 and guidelines laid out by the NCPO and public needs. General Prayuth said among those key policies of the 11 areas include attempts to reduce social disparity, increase people's access to the government’s services, raise quality services of public health, boost national economic potential, encourage Thai people to play larger roles in the ASEAN Community (AC), set to be formed by the end of 2015, conserve natural resources, suppress corruption and amend legislative and judicial processes. According to the prime minister, his government will also undertake national reform in 11 areas transparently and urgently. After delivering the policy statement before the NLA, the prime minister noted, his government will be able to start administering the country and all government agencies will be ordered to complete their plans within a fiscal year, from October 1, 2014-September 30, 2015. The prime minister also answered NLA members' questions after presenting his administration's policies. (TNA)
