New US ambassador to Thailand approved

BANGKOK, August 6 (TNA) - The US Senate has endorsed Glyn Townsend Davies as the new US Ambassador to Thailand. Posting on his personal Twitter page, US Charge d’ Affaires at the US Embassy in Bangkok Patrick Murphy congratulates Davies for being appointed as the new US Ambassador to Thailand, praising the new US top envoy in Bangkok a terrific diplomat. Davies also posted on his personal Twitter page, saying that he is happy and honored to be confirmed by the US Senate as the new US Ambassador to Thailand and he and his wife are looking forward to moving to Bangkok in the near future. Davies is a career member of the US Senior Foreign Service. His diplomatic career began in 1980 and he has served in three ambassadorial-level assignments since 2003, most recently as Special Representative of the US Secretary of State for North Korea Policy. Davies will replace Kristie Kenney, the first female US ambassador to Thailand, whose term ended in November 2014. (TNA)
