New US CENTCOM Commander inaugurated

Manama, Sep3(BNA): The new Commander of the U.S. Naval Forces, Central Command and 5th Fleet Rear Admiral Kevin M. Donegan has been inaugurated this evening, taking over from his predecessor Vice Admiral John W. Miller. His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa deputised Shaikh Khalifa bin Rashid Al-Khalifa and Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al-Khalifa to attend the inauguration ceremony, which was held aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier at Khalifa bin Salman Seaport in Hidd. Shaikh Khalifa bin Rashid Al-Khalifa and Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al-Khalifa conveyed greetings and congratulations from HRH the Premier to Rear Admiral Kevin M. Donegan. They conveyed the Premier’s thanks to Vice Admiral John W. Miller for his dedicated efforts during his tenure to bolster joint cooperation, particularly military and defence ties. They commended outstanding steadily-growing cooperation and outstanding friendship bonding Bahrain and the United States, hailing the pivotal US role in consolidating regional and international security and stability. Rear Adm. Kevin M. Donegan thanked the Government of Bahrain, affirming his country’s resolve to strengthen cooperation and coordination for the sake of joint interests.
