Doha, May 18 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers noted that the participation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in the extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), at the invitation of HE President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, reaffirms the State of Qatar's commitment to support the Palestinian people politically and materially as well as reaffirms its interest in developments of the fateful events witnessed by the State of Palestine, including the transfer of the US Embassy to the occupied city of Jerusalem.
The newspapers, in their editorial today, stressed the importance of this summit, which will discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian territories in the wake of the brutal massacres committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the defenseless Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Sharq said that the participation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in the summit underscores Qatar's interest in developments of the fateful events witnessed by the State of Palestine, including the transfer of the US Embassy to the occupied city of Jerusalem and the massacre committed by the Israeli occupation forces against unarmed civilians in the Gaza Strip, in which 62 Palestinians were martyred and more than 2,700 were wounded last Monday when the Israeli occupation forces targeted them at the Gaza Strip border with live bullets during peaceful protests against the transfer of the US embassy and while marking the seventieth anniversary of the Nakba.
If the Palestinian cause is the first cause of Arabs, those events witnessed by the State of Palestine require an exceptional stand to protect the sanctities and lives in the State of Palestine, "which was invaded by gangs of Zionist flocks who succeeded in swallowing an Arab state that has Islamic and Christian sanctuaries and sought to eliminate them exploiting the disintegration and weakness of the Arab and Islamic nation," it said.
Al-Sharq said that the Arab and Islamic peoples, and even the peoples of the free world, who have been supporting the Palestinian cause from Latin America to Asia, are awaiting the leaders of the Muslim world who will meet today to take a position that defends Jerusalem and reaffirms the right of return to Palestine. It is imperative for the summit to come out with decisions that go beyond denunciation and condemnation to practical steps that oblige the United States of America to withdraw from its absolute bias towards Israeli occupation, that end the injustices against the Palestinian people and that assert the rights of the nation in its sanctities.
Al-Raya said that the OIC extraordinary summit, due to be held today to discuss the latest developments in the State of Palestine in the wake of the brutal massacres committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the defenseless Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, is important because of the current circumstances facing the Palestinian cause.
It added that it is a summit that would send a strong message to the whole world against the Israeli escalation as it is attended by 57 Islamic countries, noting that the participation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in the summit affirms Qatar's long-standing commitment to support the Palestinian people politically and materially.
Al-Raya said that killing and terrorism committed by the Israeli occupation army against the Palestinian people require that the summit takes a clear decision on this crime, which resulted from the US decisions supporting the Israeli occupation, including the transfer of the US embassy to occupied Jerusalem, which has become a settlement outpost through which Washington intended to kill the peace process deliberately and showed full bias towards the occupation, a matter which puts everyone, including Arabs and Muslims in front of a real challenge.
The State of Qatar, as it has always been at the forefront of those supporting the Palestinian people and its just cause, was one of the first countries to receive an invitation to participate in the summit about which it was consulted, Al-Raya said, adding that the positions of Qatar have always been supportive of the Palestinian cause and His Highness's participation in the Summit was an affirmation of these positions expressed by the State of Qatar on more than one occasion as it called on all the international and regional powers that have influence over the Israeli entity to take immediate action to stop the brutal killing machine, and called upon the Security Council and the international community to shoulder their responsibilities. Thus, Qatar, through its participation in the summit, sends new messages reaffirming its non-acceptance of the decision of the US administration to transfer its embassy from Tel Aviv to occupied Jerusalem, as this step showed that Washington cannot be a mediator in the peace process because of its bias towards the Israeli entity, it added.
The newspaper concluded by saying that the summit is required to send a strong and clear message for the sake of the issues concerning the Palestinians, especially in the light of the inability of the international community and organizations concerned with the protection of world peace, and that Muslim leaders should realize that the Israeli occupation and the Palestinian cause is not only for the Palestinians, but it is a common cause for all believers in law and justice, and that condemnation alone is not enough, adding it is necessary to take common and deterrent steps by Arab, Islamic and international parties.
Al-Watan newspaper said that the OIC extraordinary summit, which will be held today in Istanbul, is important as it will discuss the latest developments in the State of Palestine, including the transfer of the US Embassy to occupied Jerusalem and the massacre committed by the Israeli occupation forces against unarmed civilians in the Gaza Strip, in which 62 Palestinians were martyred and more than 2,700 were wounded.
It said that the gravity of the situation in the State of Palestine and the growing violations of the occupation forces imposed on peace-loving countries and pro-justice supporters to back the just cause of the Palestinian people, criminalize violations and curb the manipulation of international law.
The State of Qatar has always been at the forefront of those supporting the Palestinian people and its just cause, Al-Watan said, pointing out that Qatar was one of the first countries to receive an invitation to participate in the summit about which it was consulted. It pointed out that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held via telephone a conversation with HE President of Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan during which HE the President invited HH the Amir to attend the extraordinary summit, and HH the Amir accepted the invitation.
Because Qatar places the Palestinian cause in mind and regards it as the central Arab cause, the cabinet, in its weekly meeting, condemned the brutal massacre committed by the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza Strip and renewed its call upon the Security Council to intervene urgently and decisively to protect the Palestinian people from the Israeli aggression and to recognize their legitimate national rights, foremost of which is the right to establish their independent State in accordance with the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital, Al-Watan said.
The newspaper concluded by saying that Qatar's unlimited support for the Palestinian cause represents a sacred duty to protect innocent civilians from the occupation authorities' encroachment on their cities and villages, and from the occupation forces continuous target to the Palestinians with weapons that are internationally prohibited. It said this requires a unified Islamic position to support the cause, protect civilians and restore their denied rights in line with the values of right and justice and in accordance with international laws.
