Next SKorean, Thai consular meeting set in late July

BANGKOK,June 30 (TNA) - South Korea and Thailand will hold the next consular meeting, the third of its kind, in late July 2017. Thai Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Busadee Santipitak, who is also Director-General of the ministry's Department of Information, told journalists of the preliminary schedule on June 30. The spokeswoman stated that the upcoming bilateral consular meeting between South Korea and Thailand is aimed to discuss cooperation on immigration and labor issues, including solutions to frequent denials of the entry of Thai nationals to South Korea each year, a high number of Thai tourists overstaying in South Korea and existing barriers to the employment of Thai workers in South Korea. Besides, issues on the welfare protection of Thai nationals working in South Korea will also be discussed. "The outcome of the upcoming meeting is expected to enhance bilateral consular cooperation mechanism between Seoul and Bangkok, which will help ease and end the pending problems for mutual benefits of both countries more efficiently and will become the agenda for future meetings when more consular cooperation between South Korea and Thailand will be further explored", the spokeswoman said.
