NHRC Chairman Demands Saudi Authorities to Immediately Reveal Whereabouts of the Four Qatari Nationals

London, October 14 (QNA) - HE Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri demanded the Saudi authorities to immedicably reveal the whereabouts of the four Qatari nationals, victims of enforced disappearance and arbitrary detention, and held the Saudi authorities fully responsible for their safety. HE the NHRC Chairman called for sending a UN fact-finding mission to find out the fate of the three Qatari victims of enforced disappearance and another citizen who was arbitrarily detained, noting that the fate of the four Qatari nationals remains unknown since they were arbitrarily and unfairly detained by the Saudi authorities. He also urged the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention and the Working Group on Enforced Disappearance to undertake a joint field visit to Saudi Arabia to reveal the situation of the Qatari nationals detained there. In press statements during his visit to the United Kingdom, Dr. Al Marri underlined that the National Human Rights Committee has "serious concerns" about the fate of the Qatari nationals held by the Saudi authorities for a long time. He described the Saudi authorities' actions against Qatari nationals as shameful and inhumane and will leave psychological effects on future generations. So far, neither the National Human Rights Committee nor the families of Qatari nationals detained in Saudi Arabia can know where their whereabouts or even communicate with them or know their fate, he said. The NHRC Chairman praised the cooperation of the international organization with the National Human Rights Committee, urging these organizations to exert more pressure to release the Qatari nationals before it is too late. He noted that the NHRC provided all international organization and the United Nations with all information and data about the disappeared and forcibly detained citizens in Saudi Arabia, and that the Committee is in constant contact with the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention and the Working Group on Enforced Disappearance and it appreciates the efforts made by the international organizations. He renewed calls on the international organizations and the international community to move and exert more pressure on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to compel it's to respect international law and to reveal the fate of the four Qatari citizens and to release them immediately.
