Nigerian Journalist Highly Impressed By Tehran's 19th Press Fair

Tehran, Nov 1, IRNA – The Editor-in-Chief of Nigerian Daily Start newspaper, Mannir Dan-Ali, says the ongoing Press Exhibition in Tehran has been quite impressive. In an interview with IRNA on the sidelines of the 19th International Exhibition of Press and News Agencies, which is currently underway at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla, Dan-Ali said so many exhibitors, representing universities, press and news agencies, have taken part in the exhibition, which testifies significance of the event. He said had had found out during the exhibition that Iranian media are vigorous. He said when coming back to his country he would share his exhibition experience with his colleagues and countrymen. Asked to comment on Iran's nuclear program and western sanctions against Iran, he said Iran has the right to possess nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. He said that's unlike many other countries which have acquired the energy and technology for destructive purposes. "I don't like the sanctions; they target people. They are the eventual sufferers. Disagreement(s), if any, should be solved with governments and people should not be the target. It's not fair," he said. Asked whether his daily has made any contract with Iranian side or if there is any plan for this in the future, he said no agreement for cooperation has yet been signed. The exhibition is hosting some 2,380 Persian dailies, magazines and periodicals while about 50 pavilions have been dedicated to international section. The exhibition also includes a temporary museum displaying history of Iranian journalism on the sidelines of the event. A collection of the earliest Iranian newspapers and magazines is on display in the museum pavilion. The 19th International Exhibition of Press and News Agencies runs until November 3./end
