Nigerian man, Thai woman arrested for online fraud

BANGKOK, August 28 (TNA) - Police of the Royal Thai Police's Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) have arrested a Nigerian man and a Thai woman for an alleged online fraud case. The accused, Stanley Onyekwere and Anchulee Siriwong, were nabbed at their apartment room in Bangkok's Bung Kum District on Thursday, after their gang had allegedly used emails to lure a Taiwanese steel joint company into transferring about 4.6 million baht to their bank accounts. Both of them, who were apprehended under arrest warrants approved by the Thai court, later admitted to the fraud, saying they had many accomplices. The Thai police are, thus, hunting for their other accomplices. Meanwhile, TCSD Commander Police Major General Siripong Timula warned business operators to verify information before making any financial transaction with any online business partner. (TNA)
