Nine items of goods offer discount after falling oil prices

BANGKOK, Jan 23 (TNA) - Manufacturers of nine items of goods have decided to offer discount between 2 – 25 per cent to customers after retail price of diesel oil in Thailand has fallen by as much as 35 per cent since the beginning of 2016. Viboonlak Ruamlak, director-general of Commerce Ministry’s Internal Trade Department said discounted goods include powdered milk, milk, canned fish, fragrance rice, cement, electricity wire and iron. The price of other goods including soap and toothpaste is expected to go down in February if oil prices continue to decline. The director general said her department will introduce cheap food to people, starting next month. Under the Blue Flag programme which is sponsored by the government to offer goods at cheap prices to the public, Viboonlak said the government will organise the programme in three southern provinces to assist rubber growers next week.
