No casualties reported among Thai nationals in Yemen

BANGKOK, March 29 (TNA) - Thai embassy officials in Muscat, Oman, say they are prepared to evacuate Thai nationals residing in Yemen if the unrest situation there escalates. Thai nationals wishing to return home had been advised to immediately contact the embassy, and those who still remain in Yemen to take precautions and remain in designated safe areas. Sek Wannamethee, director-general of Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Information Department, announced in Bangkok on Sunday that so far Thai nationals in Yemen were still safe with zero casualties. He confirmed there were currently about 250 Thais living there. Forces under a Saudi Arabia-led coalition on Sunday reportedly launched fresh air strikes in Yemen at strategic sites held by Houthi rebels, including army bases loyal to the group’s main ally. Sunday’s air strikes, the fourth consecutive night since "Operation Decisive Storm" began, reportedly hit an arms depot in the capital city Sanaa's Faj Attan area, as well as a special forces headquarters. A military airbase near the international airport was also said to have been damaged. The offensive came as Houthi fighters on Saturday threatened to use suicide bomb attacks in Saudi Arabia if the kingdom continued with air strikes. (TNA)
