No casualties in THAI airplane tyre explosion in Chiang Rai

BANGKOK, November 5 (TNA) - A tyre of a passenger plane of Thai Airways International (THAI), the national flag carrier, exploded during its landing at the Mae Fa Luang Airport in Chiang Rai province in the Thai North on Tuesday morning, but all people on board were safe. The THAI flight, TG130, carrying 195 passengers, which departed from Thailand's main Suvarnbhumi International Airport at 8:15am (local time), reportedly encountered the incident at about 09:25 (local time), just after the aircraft landed at the runway and was on the taxiway to an inbound terminal. An initial probe found that the problem was caused by a sudden lock of the braking system of the plane, resulting in the burst of the rear tyre on its right undercarriage. The pilot was, however, able to guide the plane to safely park at a bay with no injuries. After the incident, THAI sent a maintenance team to replace the exploded tyre and the plane could later carry passengers from Chiang Rai's Mae Fa Luang Airport to the Suvarnbhumi International Airport safely despite some delay.
