No irregularity found prior to gubernatorial election

BANGKOK, January 29 (TNA) - The Bangkok election committee says that there has not been any vote buying or signs of any other electoral fraud prior to the upcoming gubernatorial election, set on March 3, 2013. Police Lieutenant General Thaweesak Tujinda, head of the Bangkok election committee, told reporters of the development on Tuesday, acknowledging that his panel's staffs have been deployed to watch out for electoral fraud in all 50 districts of Bangkok. Police Lieutenant General Thaweesak cautioned that there could be complaints of electoral fraud after the qualification verification, saying that his panel will finish the verification of qualifications of all candidates contesting the March 3 gubernatorial election by February 1. City Clerk Ninnart Chalitanont told journalists, meanwhile, that she has written to staffs at offices under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to allow Bangkok governor candidates to campaign for votes in their compounds, unless the vote campaigns disturb the work of government officials, and that she has also ordered BMA officials to remain neutral for the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
