No Malaysians Involved In Air Algerie Crash - Foreign Ministry

KUALA LUMPUR, July 25 (Bernama) -- No Malaysians are reported to be in the Air Algerie flight which crashed while flying from Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso to Algiers on Thursday. Wisma Putra (Malaysia's Foreign Ministry) secretary Nirvana Jalil Ghani confirmed the matter when contacted by Bernama here Friday. "So far no reports have been received from any quarters of Malaysians being involved in the incident," she said. Xinhua news agency reported that the AH5017 flight carrying 110 passengers and six crew on board disappeared from radar screens 50 minutes after take-off from Ouagadougou Airport in Burkina Faso en route to Algiers. The plane vanished over the Malian region of Gao about some 500km south of the Algerian border, according to the report. Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra earlier confirmed that the plane had crashed in neighbouring Mali. --BERNAMA
