No Thai Casualties Reported in Ankara Bombings

BANGKOK, Oct 11 (TNA) - There were no reports on Thai people killed or wounded in two bomb explosions in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Saturday, Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Sek Wannamethee said in Bangkok on Sunday. The spokesman said his ministry was informed by the Thai embassy in Ankara that neither Thai students nor businessmen were killed or wounded in Saturday’s bombings. International news agencies have reported that at least 95 people died after two suicide bombers were responsible in the attack while people had been planning to gather for a “peace and democracy” march, calling for an end to violence between the government and Kurdish militants. The Turkish Prime Minister’s Office had announced that more than 95 people were killed and 246 wounded, 48 of them in critical condition. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned what he called a "terrorist attack" and vowed the perpetrators would face justice. A three-day condolence for the victims was declared. Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha and Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai have sent condolence messages to their respective Turkish counterparts over the tragic incidents, according to the spokesman.
