NONG KHAI, April 5 (TNA) A photo exhibition of Nong Khai Province in the Thai Northeast and Vientiane, Laos' capital, has been launched to mark the 20th anniversary of the 1st Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge, linking Nong Khai with the Lao capital. Nong Khai Governor Wirat Limsuwat and Vientiane Mayor Soukanh Mahalath, along with Australian Ambassador to Lao PDR H.E. John William and Australian Ambassador to Thailand H.E. James White, jointly presided over a ceremony to launch the photo exhibition in Nong Khai on Saturday, entitled, "Nong Khai-Vientiane, 100 Relations Across the Mekhong River." Besides, the two sides also inaugurated an arboretum in Baan Nong Kom Koh of Nong Khai's Muang District, under the supervision of the Thai Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment's Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, aimed to be a knowledge ground for plants and faunas as rare plant species are gathered, as well as to be a leisure destination for visitors, as part of the 60th anniversary celebration of Thai-Lao diplomatic relations. Another arboretum is being developed in neighbouring Laos, fully financed by the Thai side, to also mark the 60th anniversary celebration of Thai-Lao diplomatic relations. (TNA)
