North - South Transport Corridor will cut goods transportation time from India to Russia twice - India’s Ministry of Shipping

NEW DELHI, August 5. /TASS/. Goods delivery time over the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) will be lower as compared to already operating routes and will not exceed 30 days, India’s Ministry of Shipping said on Wednesday The corridor proposed between India and Central Asia and Russia is expected to substantially reduce cargo transportation time, the ministry said. The International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) is a proposed multimodal transportation system connecting the Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf to the Caspian Sea via Islamic Republic of Iran, from where it connects St. Petersburg and North Europe. "It is expected that cargo by this route would reach Russia in about 25-30 days as against the present route through Suez which takes about 45-60 days," the ministry reported. India along with 12 other members are parties in the agreement of INSTC. Russia and India has already completed development of the relevant infrastructure. Read more
