Northern provinces warned of heavy rain

CHIANG MAI, Oct 15 (TNA) - The weather department office in Chiang Mai has warned people living in 13 northern provinces of thunderstorms and heavy rain in some areas. Meanwhile, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, one of the most popular Buddhist temples, located atop Suthep Mountain in Chiang Mai, was hit by heavy rain late Saturday. Because of the heavy rain, the temple asked people wishing to travel and pay respect to the Buddha statue to be very cautious as several trees were uprooted and mudslide were seen at many spots on the road leading to the temple. Also, people living at the foot of the mountain are also asked to be prepared for a possible flash flood as excessive water from accumulated rainfall has flowed downward. (TNA)
