Nose filler can cause blindness

BANGKOK, June 5 (TNA) - The Dermatological Society of Thailand (DST) has warned that nose filler can cause blindness to people, citing eight Thai patients who have faced the side-effect of the nose filler and only one of them has been cured. DST President Associated Professor Dr. Noppadol Noppakhun told a press conference in Bangkok on Thursday, jointly held with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists of Thailand (RCOPT), that injecting a nose filler under people's eyes may clog the blood arteries there, especially the ones which nourish the eyes, leading to blindness. The physicians, thus, seriously advised that nose filler injections should be avoided at all cases, as it could either cause blindness or a deformed face, as skin around the injected area could become dead. The doctors cited a 33-year old female patient who got a nose filler injection and suffered a wound as its side effect, which has not yet been cured for the past three years. RCOPT President Dr. Paisan Ruamwiboonsuk said there are at least 41 Thai and foreign medical journals reporting that about 61 patients worldwide have suffered from side effects of nose filler injections, with 44 Korean, eight Thai and three American filler people having become blinded consequently.(TNA)
