Noted Iranian translator hospitalized

Tehran, Nov 15, IRNA – Prominent Iranian writer and translator Najaf Daryabandari has been admitted to a hospital after suffering a brain stroke for the second time. He was hospitalized on Thursday, Nov. 13. Daryabandari has translated several world-renowned works including William Faulkner’s ‘A Rose for Emily’ and ‘As I Lay Dying’, Bertrand Russell’s ‘A History of Western Philosophy’ and ‘Power’, Samuel Beckett’s ‘Waiting for Godot’, Edgar Lawrence Doctorow’s ‘Billy Bathgate’ and ‘Ragtime’, and Mark Twain’s ‘Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’. He has also rendered Hemingway’s 'A Farewell to Arms' and 'The Old Man and the Sea' into the Persian language. The writer has penned several books as well and has written a cookbook, ‘From Garlic to Onion’, with the help of his actress and dubbing artist wife Fahimeh Rastkar./end
