NRSA supports registration of migrant workers at permanent border passes

BANGKOK, May 2 (TNA) - The National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) on May 2 approved a proposal of its committee on social reform for the all-year-long registration of migrant workers at permanent border crossings. The committee proposed that all the registration process require a flat 3,000-baht fee to encourage migrant workers to seek registration. Besides, the committee proposed a panel be set up and chaired by a deputy prime minister to manage the number of migrant workers proportionally to labour demand in the country. The NRSA will forward the proposals to the cabinet for approval and urge the Ministry of Labour to implement them in a year after the government's endorsement. (TNA)
