NSC:Situation in Thai far South remains under control

BANGKOK, February 23 (TNA) - The National Security Council (NSC) says that the situation in the violence-plagued Thai far South has remained under control. NSC Secretary-General Lieutenant General Paradorn Pattanathabutr acknowledged during the weekly TV and radio programme of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Saturday that the violence in the Thai deep South has not spread to other areas, as local security forces have kept the situation under control. According to the NSC chief, the government will compensate to only innocent people who have been killed in the violent unrest in the southernmost Thai region, but no compensation will be provided to relatives of insurgents killed in fighting with government forces.
