NU Orders Its Members To Conduct Prayers For Sahal

Jakarta, Nov 24 (Antara) - The Central Executive Board of Indonesia`s largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) (PBNU) asked Muslims, particularly NU members to conduct prayers for chairman of NU Law-making Agency Sahal Mahfudh who died Friday morning. "Let`s pray for Sahal as part of our last respect to him by conducting a `gaib` prayer," BPNU Deputy Secretary General Muhammad Sulton Fatoni said here on Friday. The PBNU also ordered its members to organize a `tahlil` ritual (praise-to-God recital) in favor of the NU Muslim Cleric who died at the age of 76 at 1:05 a.m on Friday. "The BPNU will hold `tahlil` rituals for seven consecutive days at its headquarters here," Sulton said. NU is Indonesia`s largest Muslim organization with over 30 million members across the country.
