Number Of Indonesian Voters In Greece Increasing

London, April 8 (Antara) - The number of Indonesians living in Greece who cast their votes in the 2014 legislative election increased compared with the 2009 elections, Indonesian Embassy`s First Secretary in Athens John Admiral said here on Tuesday. According to the embassy`s data, in 2009, 247 Indonesians, out of total 575, cast their votes or about 42 percent of the Indonesian population in Greece. In the general election held on April 5 at the Indonesian Embassy in Athens, 535, out of total 985, Indonesians in Greece exercised their right to vote for the future members of the Indonesian parliament. Indonesia will hold two elections this year, namely the parliamentary election on April 9 and the presidential election on July 9. The scheduled parliamentary election will allow voters to choose 550 members of the House of Representatives (DPR), 132 members of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD), 2,137 members of the provincial legislative assembly and 20,257 members of the district/city`s legislative assembly. About 185.8 million Indonesians are eligible to cast their votes in the 2014 election, with 2.2 million among them living abroad. Those who live abroad cast their votes from March 30 to April 6 for the parliamentary elections. Their votes will be included in the electoral area of DKI Jakarta II, consisting of Central Jakarta and South Jakarta.
