Number Of Visits By Tourists To East Nusa Tenggara Up

KUPANG, Aug 14 (Antara) - The number of visits by tourists to East Nusa Tenggara has continued to increase as a result of aggressive promotion of the province's tourist objects by the government. "In 2016, there were 916,833 tourists including 140,089 foreign tourists," head of the marketing information of the regional tourism office Yohana Pakereng said here last weekend. Pakereng said the most visited tourist objects in the province is the regency of Manggarai Barat, Flores, which recorded 103,801 visits in 2016. "The number of tourists visiting Flores has continued to increase especially after the Tour de Flores," she said. The Tour de Flores is a multi-day cycling race on the Indonesian island of Flores. It is part of UCI Asia Tour in category 2.2, held regularly every year starting in 2016. She predicted the number of visitors to East Nusa Tenggara would increase by around 30 percent in 2017 compared with 2016. Modernization of road infrastructure , seaport and airport facilities contribute to drawing more tourists to the region, she added.
