OANA meeting attendees visit AEOI

Tehran, IRNA - Members of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), who are in Tehran to attend the 18th OANA general assembly that began on Monday in Tehran, paid a visit to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) on Tuesday. The 18th meeting of the OANA General Assembly began in the Iranian capital on Monday (October 24) with the participation of the Managing Director of IRNA Ali Naderi and with a speech made by the culture minister. The general assembly is being held at the highest level of every news agency to discuss infrastructural issues; the upgrade of activities of members; macro-politics; review, reform, and ratification of agreements of the executive board and the technical and news groups; offering suggestions to the executive board and pursuing executive issues; as well as decision-making on new members. Members of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) paid a visit to the AEOI and got acquainted with the scientific and research infrastructure, achievements, and capabilities of the nuclear industry of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of reactor and radiopharmaceutical production. They also visited the exhibition of the achievements of Iran's nuclear industry. The OANA was established to facilitate information dissemination among regional countries with the support of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). IRNA, Fars, and Mehr are the three news agencies in Iran representing the Islamic country in the OANA. IRNA is one of the first members of the organization, and presided over it between 1997 to 2000; then, the Iranian news agency acted as the vice chairman of the regional organization in 2016, and now IRNA is a member of the executive committee of OANA.
