Obama Congratulates Indonesia On Independence Day

Jakarta, Aug 18 (Antara) - US President Barack Obama has congratulated President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the people of Indonesia on the 69th anniversary of Indonesia`s Independence Day that falls on August 17. "The American people join me in congratulating you and the people of Indonesia on this 69th anniversary of your nation`s independence August 17," President Obama said in a message posted on the US embassy`s official website here on Monday. The United States values and appreciates its important partnership with Indonesia, the world`s third largest democracy, he stated. "Our countries, united by shared values and strategic interests, have deepened ties under the Comprehensive Partnership announced four years ago. I look forward to enhanced and continued cooperation under this framework as we work together to promote peace, prosperity, and democracy. Please accept my best wishes for a joyous commemoration of your independence," Obama said in his message.
