Officials ordered to solve baggage screening urgently

BANGKOK, Jan 22 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has ordered the Transport Ministry and related officials to solve a delay in baggage screening at Phuket International Airport urgently, said a government spokesman. The spokesman said Gen. Prayut ordered the problem to be solved quickly before the Chinese New Year when more passengers are expected to travel and use Phuket International Airport. Now, the airport has opened more check-in counters and increased the number of officials to enable passengers to pass to immigration procedures quickly. Meanwhile, the Transport Ministry officials will install a new baggage scanning system during March 15 to 25 to speed up the checking-in. With the new in-line screening system, passengers will not have to queue up for bag scanning before checking in. Passengers can check in first and their bags will pass through the in-line screening system. (TNA)
