OIC aims to bring lasting peace to Afghanistan, secretary general says

ISTANBUL (A.A) - The secretary general of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) said on Thursday that OIC aimed at bringing lasting peace to Islamic world and Afghanistan. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu delivered a speech within the scope of an international meeting in Istanbul titled "Islamic Cooperation Project for Peaceful Future in Afghanistan" organized by Marmara University and George Mason University. Ihsanoglu said that OIC has been supporting Afghanistan and exerting great efforts for development of this country. Religious leaders in Afghanistan could play a very important role in ending sectarian clashes there, he added.
