OIC Condemns Execution Of 21 Egyptians By ISIS

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 18 (Bernama) -- The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned the cold-blooded murder of 21 Egyptian workers by the terrorist group Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), last Sunday. Its secretary-general Iyad Ameen Madani in a statement made available to Bernama expressed OIC’s deep condolences to the families of the victims, the Egyptian people and the government. “Such barbaric act proves once more the criminal nature of this group (ISIS), and how its crimes continue to violate every law and contradict every religion and human values; and how it blatantly works to defame Islam and incites worldwide animosity towards Muslims,” he said in the statement. Madani urged the Libyan factions to reach a political settlement to their differences and conflict and build on their common identity as Libyans, Arabs and Muslims. He stressed that failure to do so would only lead to Libya being turned into a "failed state" where violence, extremism and tribalism rule would become a threat to the stability of its region. It was reported that ISIS or IS (Islamic State) released a video on Sunday showing masked people beheading 21 Egyptian workers along a beach in Tripoli, Libya. -- BERNAMA
