OIC Delegation Visiting World Cities To Rally Support For Palestinian Cause

KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 (Bernama) -- A ministerial delegation of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) recently left for Moscow and Beijing to mobilise international support for the Palestinian cause, the OIC said in a statement. The delegation will bring up issues on the Palestinian cause as well as urge the international community to compel Israel to put an end to its settlement policy and aggressions against Palestine. The delegation comprised Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Chokri, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyadh Al Malki, Guinea Foreign Minister Leon Soni Fall, along with OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani and a special envoy for the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan. The delegation would also convey a message on the OIC's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause in all international foray and the protection and safeguarding of the Islamic sanctuaries in the city of Al-Quds, Jerusalem. The delegation had visited Oslo on Feb 5 and met with the Norwegian Foreign Minister Borg Brenda where both parties agreed on the importance of the historic role played by Norway, as a longstanding sponsor of the peace negotiations, which has been stalled by the Israeli Government. Israel had persistently refused to honour its commitments regarding the settlement policy and aggressions against the Palestinian people, the statement said. The international tour to many influential capitals across the world is to rally international support for Palestine. It is also to exercise pressure on Israel to reverse its settlement policy and stop its violations in the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as its ongoing illegal measures including the withholding of the Palestinian tax revenues, the OIC said. -- BERNAMA
