One BMA school remains closed Monday

BANGKOK, Jan 19 (TNA) - All the schools under the supervision of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), except one, which are located near rally sites and closed earlier for safety of pupils and teachers will be reopen Monday, said Attaporn Suwattnadeja, deputy permanent secretary for BMA. Wat Pathum Wanaram School which is located near the major protesting site of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee at Ratchaprasong intersection will remain closed, Mr. Attaporn said. He said teachers at BMA schools are worried that students will have to attend many extra classes if the schools are closed for too long while final examination is approaching. School final examinations are schedule to be held around late February. Mr. Attaporn said BMA school directors will today closely monitor anti-government protests situation and schools may have to close further if violence occurs in the capital. (TNA)
