One Killed, Seven Injured In Violence In Yala, Pattani

PATTANI, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- A headman was shot dead by unknown assailants and his assistant injured while riding a pickup truck in Muang Wednesday. Muang Pattani district police chief Tuandir Juthanontb said the headman was identified as Manasir Matroh, 40, and his injured assistant as Matsukree Salama, 28. Both victims are from Klong Maning village. During the 1.30 pm incident, several shots were fired at the victim at close range after the truck was closely followed from behind by a vehicle. He said police recovered over 20 AK 47 bullet shells at the scene. Earlier in Yala province, six military personnel were injured in a bomb explosion in Kg Paeceng, Purong, Krong Pinang district at 7.20 am Wednesday. Krong Pinang district police chief Pol. Col. Wasan Puang-noi said eight military personnel were patrolling in a rubber garden at the time of the explosion. -- BERNAMA
