One more death confirmed in Phuket bus crash

PHUKET, July 11 (TNA) – One more Chinese tourist was confirmed dead from the tour bus crash in the southern province of Phuket, bringing the death toll to two as of Tuesday morning. The latest victim was identified as the father of a 10-year-old Chinese boy who was confirmed dead earlier. He and his child were among passengers on the crashed tour bus. The driver, 36, only suffering minor injuries, said 25 Chinese tourists were travelling on board back from a spa downtown to a hotel in Patong area when the bus lost control on a downhill road, hitting several parked motorcycles and some houses. He blamed brake failure for the accident, killing two passengers and injuring the rest. Among the injured, two Chinese tourists remained in critical conditions, which required close monitoring. Phuket governor Noraphat Plodthong visited the victims at Vachira Phuket Hospital and vowed to provide them with full assistance. Meanwhile, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand made contact with the Thai authorities to bring bodies of the deceased tourists back to China. (TNA)
