One-stop service system opens at Thailand’s Singkhon border crossing

BANGKOK, September 13 (TNA) - In an attempt to facilitate goods transportation between Thailand and neighbouring Myanmar, the public and private sector of the two countries will on Monday officially open a one-stop service system at Singkhon border crossing in a village of Prachuap Khiri Khan province. Provincial governor Veera Sriwattanatrakul said the one-stop service system, comprising of customs and immigration offices, will further help boost trade, investment and tourism between the countries. The Singkhon border crossing in Khlong Wan sub-district in Muang Prachuap Khiri Khan province was opened in May and links the Thai province with Myanmar’s Myeik city. Previously, marine products transportation from Myeik city to Thailand were redirected through a checkpoint in Ranong province and then to Samut Sakhon province before they could be distributed to other parts of Thailand. Transportation usually took up to 20 hours. But now road travel times from Myeik city to Prachuap Khiri Khan province average at about seven hours following the opening of the Singkhon border crossing. (TNA)
