Online electoral registration planned for Thai voters

BANGKOK, October 12 (TNA) - The Election Commission of Thailand (EC), in cooperation with other agencies concerned, plans to launch a project to enable eligible Thai voters worldwide to seek the right to cast their votes outside the Kingdom online. An election commissioner, Somchai Srisutthiyakorn, told journalists of the plan on October 11, saying that his election agency, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs's Department of Consular Affairs, will sign an agreement on October 22 to jointly launch the initiative. Under the project, Somchai noted, Thai eligible voters worldwide can access to the official online registration system, making them no longer need to travel to Thai embassies in the countries where they live to register their electoral right. According to the Thai election commissioner, the online electoral registration system will also be further developed as a mobile phone application for more voters' conveniences in the future. (TNA)
