Opaque bins removed from sensitive areas in Bangkok

BANGKOK, April 7 (TNA) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is removing all opaque bins from sensitive areas in the capital, particularly on main tourist routes, following a low–impact blast from a improvised bomb planted in a roadside bin, injuring two women on April 5. Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwankuang told journalists on Friday that he has ordered the removal of all opaque bins from areas considered at risk in the city in the wake of Wednesday night's explosion in front of the old Government Lottery Office on Ratchadamnoen Avenue. The governor said he has also ordered street cleaners to monitor irregularities, especially during the upcoming Songkran, or Traditional Thai New Year, Festival next week. Meanwhile, Bangkok Deputy Governor Chakkraphan Piewngam revealed that the iron rod bins used to hang transparent plastic bags will be temporarily replaced the opaque bins. According to the deputy governor, there are more than one million bins in Bangkok and it will take some times to change all of those bins, starting from sensitive areas in the capital. (TNA)
