OPEC dismisses Iran as head of ministerial monitoring committee

Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct.29 / Trend F.Milad/ Iran has been dismissed by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries as the head of the organization's ministerial monitoring committee (MMC). The weak performance of Iran's then oil minister in boosting cooperation among the member states was the main reason for the decision, the Pana news agency reported. Kuwiat has replaced Iran as the head of the MMC, the report said. The Ministerial Monitoring Committee (MMC) was established in March 1982 by the 63rd (Extraordinary) Meeting of the Conference. The MMC is chaired by the President of the Conference and comprises all the Heads of Delegation. The MMC meets periodically to monitor the market situation and to recommend to the Conference any measures that might be taken.
